Sinosteel Luoyang Institute of Refractories Research Co., Ltd. (LIRR) is a science and technology enterprise affiliated to Sinosteel Corporation, China.



Sinosteel Corporation (abbreviated as Sinosteel) is a central enterprise under the administration of State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. We are a large multinational enterprise that integrates resource development, trade & logistics, engineering project and science and technology in providing comprehensive auxiliary service and system integrated service for Iron & steel industry, especially steel mills.



LIRR was established in 1963 as a key research institute attached to former Metallurgical Industry Ministry. We are a large integrated research institute for refractories and are the center of technology, science, information and services in refractory industry. LIRR's business scope covers refractory products, test equipment, processing machines, project design, insulation, contract, domestic/overseas trade, inspection on product quality, information services, etc.



LIRR has developed into a production base with "National Engineering Research Center for Refractories" and "National Hi-Tech Industrialization Special Refractories Model Project" as entities. There are 10 categories of products such as composite refractories, advanced oxides, metallurgical function refractories, monolithic refractories, etc., based on 16 production lines with the annual capacity of 80 000 tons of high and medium grade refractories consisting of over 200 varieties. LIRR's products have been widely used in industries such as metallurgy, nonferrous metal, petrochemical, glass, ceramic, building materials, etc., and have been exported to over 40 countries and regions such as America, Europe, etc.



LIRR Research and Develop Center is a National Approved Enterprise Technical Center. We have about 400 technical personnel, among whom 90 are conferred with Doctor and Master degrees. LIRR has made over 600 achievements in R&D since our establishment, and has been awarded more than 210 ministerial or provincial level technical prizes and invention prizes issued by the state, and granted over 50 patents.



LIRR has been awarded "National Key High-Tech Enterprise", "National Contracts Abidance and Good Faith Enterprise", "50 High-Growth Enterprises of Henan Province", "Credit Demonstration Enterprise of Henan Province" and "AAA-Level Credit Standing Enterprise of Henan Province". We have passed ISO9001:2000 International Quality System Certification, GB/T 24001 Environment Management System Certification and GB/T 28001:2001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System Certification.



LIRR is registered in Industrial organizations such as National Engineering Research Center for Refractories, National Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for Refractories, State Administration of Import and Export Commodities Inspection (SACI) Approved Laboratory for Refractories, National Technical Committee on Refractories of Standardization Administration of China, Refractories Branch of the Chinese Society for Metals, Technology Quality and Standard Department of the Association of China Refractories Industry and National Productivity Promotion Center for Refractories.



LIRR sponsors journals of Refractories (Chinese version, Core Chinese Journal), China's Refractories (English version) and Refractory News (Chinese version).
